Our Helen Kaminski team launched a new video showing our Sri Lankan Craftspersonship in creating our raffia braid and crochet pieces. Here at Helen Kaminski, we believe in beautiful, sustainably-minded accessories that are crafted to last; combining the heritage of traditional handcrafts with modern design and innovation. In 2012, Helen Kaminski started a dedicated workshop in a Sri Lankan village that was badly affected by the 2004 Tsunami. Today, the workshop has evolved into a network including over 50 village leaders which employ over 2000 craftspeople who skillfully hand makes raffia braid and crochet pieces; with a further 400 paid craftspeople in training. Every time we visit our artisan villages, we are rewarded with knowing that these women are given the opportunity to learn new skills, gain financial independence, work while looking after their families and become part of a positive and social community. We like to use the term ‘Craftspersonship’ to acknowledge and reflect the immense amount of respect we have for our artisans, many of whom are women.
