Kangol is a brand that was born in Britain and grew up on the streets of New York and now we’d like your help to bring another icon to the states and move as much as possible of the Kangol 504’s manufacturing stateside with the Bollman Hat Company.

Bollman Hat Company Launches Kickstarter Campaign with Samuel L. Jackson to Bring the Kangol 504 to the USA

Kangol, the world’s most famous headwear brand , has launched a Kickstarter campaign to bring jobs to the United States by funding the international transport of machinery to the Bollman Hat Company in Adamstown, PA.  The hashtag #motherfunder is being used to denote this campaign.  Kangol, with its famous kangaroo logo, has been worn by celebrities including Brad Pitt, Eminem, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Bill Murray, Kid Rock, and Samuel L. Jackson, who even lent his talents to the cause for the Kickstarter video .  The brand, which originated in Britain, has the goal of moving as much of Kangol 504’s manufacturing as possible to the United States from the current factory in China and in the process create dozens of new US jobs.
The Bollman Hat Company is the oldest hat maker in the United States.  Founded in 1868, the company is employee-owned and acquired the global license to design, produce and distribute Kangol gear in 2001.  The factory was moved to China in 2006.  The company  has produced straw, wool felt and fur felt styles since then, and is now ready to produce the Kangol 504, a 100 percent seamless wool cap famous for style and comfort, in the US.
According to the sponsors, “The manufacturing of the 504 requires special machinery which was built specifically for Kangol in the 1930’s and 40’s to create the knit of the 504. These are the same machines we are looking for your help to move today. These special machines were each customized to knit, link, tease, shear, and block the Kangol 504 style. Other styles will follow with sufficient funding.”  Ten of these machines have already been moved to the U.S. and been converted to work stateside in order to allow for training and test production.    Now, the company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to complete the project.
As seen at  https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1934510363/kangol-504-bring-jobs-to-america-with-bollman-hat/ , the Kickstarter campaign offers pledge levels from $1 to $10,000, with perks including various headwear and autographed Kangol gear.  See the Kickstarter page for details.
About Kangol
Long before Kangol was worn by hip hop legends in New York, the Kangol beret was gracing the heads of uniformed officers in the British Armed forces. Kangol traces its roots back to pre-World War II England and transformed from a military uniform to the uniform of artists and musicians from around the world. In the 1960s, Kangol obtained the sole rights to make and distribute any headwear that featured the Beatles. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Kangol casual bucket and Kangol beret became icons in the New York Hip Hop scene and was donned by talents like LL Cool J, Biggie and Samuel L Jackson. Kangol was born in London, but raised in New York.
